BC Hydro Renovation Rebate Program for Insulation Upgrade.

Improving your home's insulation is a cost-effective way to keep your home cool in the summer and warm in the winter. Now, residential customers in the BC Hydro and/or FortisBC service territory who are using electricity or natural gas as the primary heating fuel for their home can take advantage of rebates.

How we can help

The insulation must be installed by a licensed contractor with a valid business licence

we are a qualified contractor

Rebates are calculated based on the R-value of new insulation added and not the total combined final R-value of the new and pre-existing insulation, including in cases where the pre-existing insulation is removed; 

The insulation added must have a minimum R-value added per location outlined below

Min R-value added
- Attic – flat and cathedral ceiling R12
- Exterior wall cavities R12
- Exterior wall sheathing R3.8
- Basement/crawlspace walls R10
- Other (exposed floor, floor over crawlspace, basement header) R20 g. 

We measure your R-Value

*The higher the R-value the more resistant the material is to the movement of heat. Learn more about R-value ratings or ask us for more information.

Only products with Canadian thermal resistivity values (R-values) provided by the manufacturer are accepted in order to qualify for rebates. Rolls or batts, blown-in, loose fill, rigid board, and spray foam insulation must be installed in accordance with the BC Standards of Practice Guide for Air Sealing and Insulation Retrofits.

We coordinate the delivery of insulation that meets the qualifications and install it in accordance with the B.C. Standards of Practice Guide for Air Sealing and Insulation Retrofits [PDF, 4.8 MB] so you can qualify for your rebate. 

The amount available for each rebate is determined by where the insulation was installed, the total area (in square feet) of the new insulation added, and how well your insulation keeps in heat (measured by R-value*).

If we know that you will be applying for the Home Renovation Rebate, we will ensure the details of your install are outlined on your invoice.
